On top of that, some people are entirely sincere about creating a new home on Mars, one which will enable long-term human habitation and maybe even the birth of a Martian civilization. These efforts are expected to lead to significant advancements in just a few years and culminate with crewed missions in the next decade. As the second most habitable planet beyond Earth in the Solar System, these missions are busy answering vital questions about Mars' past - foremost of which is whether or not it once supported life (or if it still does!). At this very moment, there are a total of eleven robotic missions exploring Mars, a combination of orbiters, landers, and rovers.
